The two female investigators made their way down the corridor of the lab discussing a matter of extreme importance, and as usual, there was a difference of opinion. Well, sort of. . .
“C’mon, Cath. You can’t be serious.” Sara protested, completely exasperated by the blonde’s last comment.
“Open you eyes, Sidle. You’ve been concentrating on only one area. You’ve got to learn not to be so single minded,” the red haired woman explained in a semi-controlled voice.
“Hey, there’s nothing wrong with being focused,” Sara replied in her defense.
Nodding her head, Catherine countered, “Okay, I’ll admit that it’s important to be focused in some situations, and now that you mention it, several circumstances immediately come to mind, but in this instance, you need to explore other boundaries or you’ll miss the most important parts.”
“No, I think you’re wrong, Catherine. One aspect can make the picture complete,” Sara answered as she continued to hold onto her opinion like a dog with a bone.
“Okay, let’s play a little game. I’ll throw out an aspect, and you tell me how your one, tiny, little aspect is better. Then we’ll look at all my aspects together and match them up against your itty bitty one,” Catherine challenged.
Looking determined, Sara replied, “Fine. Go ahead.”
Smiling, Catherine named the first thing that came to mind, “beautiful blonde hair.”
“Not sexy enough,” Sara responded with a shake of the head.
“Okay, deep blue eyes,” Catherine purred.
Contemplating the orbs for a minute, Sara said, “Nope, not quite.”
“How about that strut?” Catherine softly whispered to her colleague.
“Well, um, … close,” Sara replied, smiling as she pictured the image Catherine described.
Turning toward Sara, Catherine finally said, “Okay, I give up. You’re never going to concede, so why don’t you try to convince me that you’re right? Tell me why you think her mouth is the whole package.”
“Actually, it’s not just her mouth,” Sara answered with yet another smile.
“What? That’s what started this argume . . . I mean, discussion. You told me there was only one aspect that made Sofia sexy, and it had to do with her mouth,” Catherine exclaimed in frustration.
Sara turned to the other woman and offered, “It’s not just her mouth. It’s when she has that toothpick in her mouth, especially when she’s questioning a suspect. There is nothing sexier than Sofia cocking her head and pulling a toothpick from her mouth to make a comment."
Sara watched her colleague as she looked away in deep contemplation, and she patiently waited for Catherine to deliver the deciding verdict.
Seconds later, Catherine’s whispered response could barely be heard by the woman standing right next to her.
“Oh my God, you’re right.”

Date: 2006-10-23 09:17 am (UTC)Now see, that's what I think, too. TBTP could do away with all those Sara/Grissom moments and substitute these in their place.
