That happens all the time - you're supposed to do something and suddenly something else looks a lot more tempting. What pairing are you writing for the long fic?

They have good chemistry but somehow I don't see them together as a couple because they seem so different. I might change my mind throughout the season. And you never know what the writers come up with, perhaps it's more likely than you think.
